In honor of Inauguration Day, on behalf of myself and a goodly percentage of my fellow Americans, I hereby apologize to all of my international friends in advance for the next 4 years. :-P

(And I hope we Americans still have some rights left at the end of that period.)

In other, more positive news, the Canadian military has okayed gay weddings.

OTTAWA -- Gay and lesbian army couples can now get married on military bases. The Canadian Forces has quietly drafted a policy calling for military chaplains to formally bless same-sex weddings. Guidelines - considered "interim" until the federal government passes a law redefining marriage - outline the process for pre-nuptial counselling and using the on-base chapel for same-sex ceremonies.

Canada gets gay marriages and we get... Bush.

*sigh*

Lucky bastards.

Yeah, they have gay marriage, Paul Gross, and Callum Keith Rennie. Totally UNfair.

In an attempt to look on the bright side, at least after the next four years he can't get re-elected...

I'm waiting for the Republicans to pass a constitutional amendment allowing for 'president-for-life' to go along with the rules change for the House Ethics Committee they passed a few weeks back and the constitutional amendment they want to make that would allow Arnold Schwarzenegger to run for president. :-P

On the upside, ICONLOVE! New McKay starting on Friday!

The more I hear about what's happening in U.S. government and public policy, the more I sit here with my mouth hanging open going, "How the hell did that man get re-elected?"

I really don't get it. And this is the most powerful country on the planet. I know there are worse possibilities, but still...

On the upside, ICONLOVE! New McKay starting on Friday!

I love McKay. ::grins:: I've been downloading the epidoes, since I don't get the only Canadian channel that carries Atlantis. You've got some good stuff coming up.

Bright side....

On the =plus= side it could also get the Governor of Michigan to run, a nice Canadian ex-pat named Granholm and -highly- thought of in the DNC....

I was wearing black when Mitterrand was elected (and reelected!) I thought he was a scoundrel, but since he was a very clever and cynical scoundrel, he did not much harm (except to economy and public debt)

Most of the folks in my office are wearing black today.

And YAY, Canada!

I'm avoiding as much talk of the events here as possible. Not reading news sites, not watching TV coverage. Just keeping my head down and hoping we can make it through the next 4 years.

The upside - since many of my clients work in DC proper - everyone's off today, so I can get some catch-up work done.

Yeah, having the news on is as bad as when Reagan died. Gaaah. But I'm glad you're getting some catch-up work done. A silver lining.

That´s quite all right. It wasn´t your fault. Should you ever need exile, Germany will welcome you! ;-)

Canada rocks ever so much. This I have always known. :)
