Ardent and I were devastated to learn yesterday evening that Betty (Bluster on LJ) passed away earlier this week. We don't know details, but it was apparently natural causes. They are holding a memorial for her on Monday. If you would like a link to the obituary please email me at kelliedru at gmail.com and I will send it, I just didn't want to post it publicly.

If you would like to make a donation in her name, I think one of the Humane Societies near her would be the perfect place, as she always said she was "one of those crazy cat ladies."

(they don't have a webpage I could find)

or the Central Nebraska Humane Society.

I am going to miss her something awful.

ETA: my son ran across this quote earlier today- it seems very appropriate.

Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent. In this divine glass, they see face to face; and their converse is free, as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends, that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal.

What a shame. My heart goes out to her loved ones and friends.

Oh, Kellie! Oh my god. This is so incredibly sad. I had been wondering about her lately, but didn't try to get in touch, as things so often go. Thank you very much for letting us know.

Thank you for letting us know. I am so terribly sorry -- even though it had been quite some time since we'd corresponded, she was one of my first fannish friends and she always made me laugh.

Oh no!!

Oh, that makes me very sad. She was the one that started #discourse on IRC which is where I met many many of my fandom friends.

I was actually just thinking about her a few weeks ago, wondering what she was up to as I hadn't had any contact in a very long time. I thought she was a wonderful person and I always enjoyed our interactions. I'm sorry now I didn't make more of an effort.

*hugs you tight*

Oh no! I hadn't talked to her for some time, but I have such fond memories from MediaWest and...this is so sad.

Thank you for letting us know. She will be missed.

Oh, God. I hadn't been in touch with her in awhile, but she was one of my best Due South era friends and I was so glad we'd reconnected again over the years. She was so full of life. It's hard to imagine her gone.

so sorry for this loss among the lj/DS community. She seemed to be such a fine person and also I used to like her cats photos a lot.

Yes, her 'boys' are characters. She was definitely a fine person- flawed like we all are, but great of heart.

Oh no! This is not good news at all! I wasn't a close friend of hers but we shared quite a lot of LJ comments. She seemed to be such a happy person and it's a shame someone like her has to go so young!

Did she still have her cats? What will happen to them?

From: [identity profile] kelliem.livejournal.com

Yes, she still had her cats- I don't know what will become of them, hopefully she made some provision for them or her mother will, knowing how much they meant to her. We will try to find out at the memorial.

Thanks for letting us know

I'd appreciate a link to the obituary, Kellie. Thanks for the information on the local Humane Societies.

I'm shocked and saddened. I've been away from LJ for a bit, so this news is just reaching me.

This is such sad news. Even though I'd fallen out of touch with Betty in recent years, I have such fond and warm memories. I know you were much closer. ::hugs::

I am so sorry for your loss. I will certainly be making a donation as a token of my appreciation for what she created and the wonderful hours of reading pleasure it has given me.
