kelliem: Leverage: the cast (leverage)

This might actually make me watch the Oscars pre-show. ;D

I had the weirdest, most involved dream the night before last. It was basically an episode of Leverage-- one that included them almost getting caught pulling a con and getting shot at, and having to run through a residential neighborhood in the dark and ending up at James Garner's house (only it wasn't JG, it was a character, and he was about the age he was when he was playing Rockford) who was also a con man and they got involved in HIS con in order to save themselves (he sort of blackmailed them into it).  There was also some sort of exotic dance contest at a gaming convention, and because Parker and Devereaux were dancing for Jim Garner's con, Hardison and Spencer had to dance for the Leverage team. Oh, and somewhere in all that they had to smuggle an old man out of a care facility so they hid him in a laundry cart under the laundry. It was all very very weird.

I remember that they couldn't strip entirely, so it was almost an exotic costume contest with each group trying to have the sexiest outfit. Except the guys started out in sort-of clown costumes-- it got sexier as they took off layers fortunately. Parker exotic dancing was really amusing.  She kept glaring at everyone, and one of the conventioneers thought that was really 'hot.' ;D

Like [livejournal.com profile] aukestrel, I had very odd dreams last night.

In the first one, I was at work and someone from the Publications office came to talk to me, they were trying to lure me to a new job. It seems the University decided it was going to put out a Stargate magazine and wanted me to run the whole shebang. I was bewildered, as I know very little about magazine production, and they were all like 'oh, don't worry about that, we have people who can help you with that, but we need you because you know about fandom.' Then they started describing what they wanted in the magazine and saying things like 'we'll need people who do digital art, and regular art, and I'm saying, "Well, I know people who can do that, but they don't work for the university and they're going to want to get paid for it." and they just nodded and said of course, and they'd pay them as independent contractors. I can't remember how it ended, but somehow it segued into the second dream.

In the second dream, I was moving into a new house that had originally been built by a famous chef, and it had not one but TWO huge kitchens. Someone had turned the second kitchen into sort of an apartment, and put a bed in it. Unfortunately, the previous tenant had been a complete slob and the place was flithy, complete with cockroaches, though the rest of the house and even the other kitchen was fine. (Which would never happen in real life, if there were roaches in one room, they'd be everywhere!) So I got rid of the bed and started trying to clean the kitchen. When I opened the refrigerator, I found that the previous tenant had left a huge trash-bag full of what appeared to be some sort of cabbage soup in the refrigerator. As I was pulling it out of the fridge, the bag split open and soup went all over the floor, so I had to clean that up too. Even though the soup was old and should have been really rotten and gross, it wasn't. It was just messy. That was about when the cat woke me up.

I think my unconscious is officially weird. :)

[livejournal.com profile] theamusedone is in the state to visit relatives and last night he stopped by and we went to dinner, along with [livejournal.com profile] brynwulf and my kidunit. It was so much fun! We chatted about everything under the sun, and ate fantastic food and drank excellent wine and just generally had a blast. And the place was crowded and noisy so we could say all kinds of naughty things an no one noticed. :) [livejournal.com profile] brynwulf wanted to go to Brasserie 1010 because we'd gone there before and she really liked it. [livejournal.com profile] theamusedone had bouillabaisse which looked fantastic-- there was about half a crab in it, shell and all, and mussels and shrimp and scallops and all kinds of goodness. Kidunit had a croque monsieur (ham & gruyere), I had steak frites, and [livejournal.com profile] brynwulf had one of the specials, braised rabbit crepes. Of course we had to have dessert, [livejournal.com profile] theamusedone got the hazelnut creme brulee (which was yummy but not as yummy as the creme brulee [livejournal.com profile] brynwulf's restaurant used to serve) kidunit and I shared some eggy and slighty-underdone beignets (the only disappointing item all night!) with lemon cream sauce, and [livejournal.com profile] brynwulf had the moccachino pot de creme which was outstanding.

We had two different wines, a Pinot Blanc from Alsace, and a Vouvray from the Loire. [livejournal.com profile] brynwulf and I got a little tipsy so we had to go for a walk before we could drive home. It was a hoppin' night downtown, tons of people, and a perfect cool summer evening. [livejournal.com profile] brynwulf had to leave for home but [livejournal.com profile] theamusedone and I sat around in my living room for an hour or so and just chatted. Even though we had never met in person before, it was like we were old friends. We have a lot of tastes in common as far as reading, music, and TV. Finally he had to go, he had a 2 hour drive ahead of him, but he emailed this morning to let us know he got up to Vail okay despite the late hour.

Then last night I had the weirdest dream. I realized that even though I am on vacation, I had to go to the office for a few minutes to get something I'd forgotten, and when I got there my front-desk minion was feeling sick, so I told her she should call my other minion and ask him to work the desk so she could go home, but she wouldn't. Then I went into my office to get whatever it was I'd forgotten, and got cornered by an administrator who needed some info NOW. Reluctantly I fired up my computer and found it for her, then I went to pick up my phone and call home to let kid-unit know I was running a little late, but I couldn't call home because there was no 6 on the number pad. So I went to the front desk to use THAT phone, and it didn't have a 6 on it either. I went to every phone in the office trying to find one with a 6 and never found one. It was like I was in an alternate universe where 6 didn't exist. Very, very weird. [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth thinks that it must be about sex, but I think that's way too obvious (six/sex). :)
