There was a point after the second lifesucking where John was a dead ringer for Jim Byrnes from Highlander (which someone else pointed out to me a while back, I wish I could remember who it was).

Then I got to thinking how cool it would be if Jim was cast as Sheppard's father. Especially since Jim is a double amputee. They could do something where the reason why John's estranged from him family is because he went into the military, and his dad had been in the military and that's where he lost his legs and he's pissed that John went against his wishes....

Pix of Jim B. for comparison:

Plus, Jim plays a mean guitar.

He *does* sort of have a John-ish look to him! Never thought of that before!

I wish I could think of who mentioned to me that they saw a resemblence. It was months ago, and I'd like to credit them.

awesome idea!

he would make a *great* "Sheppard's dad"...

that first phoyo is especially Sheppard-esque, around the ears particularly....

Yes, he is a local. Byrnes will be playing at a concert in my neighborhood on Sept. 9th. Can't remember exactly what, but the flyers are all over the place.

I can definitely see the resemblance between the two. Interesting thought for a story idea.

You should go! I got to hear him (and his band) in concert once and they were fantastic!
