In a more sober vein, today is the 19th anniversary of the disaster at Chernobyl. Last year around this time, I linked to Elena from Kiev's website about Chernobyl, and I think it's appropriate to do so again today. Her Chernobyl page is here, and it's worth going through the entire thing and seeing what we humans are capable of doing to ourselves.

Found a link in

firesignwriter's journal today that I felt compelled to pass on. I don't know how many people on my flist are old enough to be aware of the events surrounding the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl back on April 25, 1986, or how many of you are even interested, but I think everyone should take a look at this site. It's a sobering and chilling testament to the destructive power of humankind, and a warning, I think, as well.
