Okay, so he didn't personally buy me coffee, but if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have known the answer to the trivia question at the bagel place this morning, thus winning a free cup of coffee.
What was the question, you ask?
Q: What is a curling tournament called?
A: A bonspiel
See? If it wasn't for Paul I would never have known that, so indirectly he bought me coffee. I think the person who owns this place must be an ex-pat Canadian, because it seems like half the time their trivia questions are ones that a Canadian is more likely to be able to answer than an American.
Just heard on the radio that Kerry chose John Edwards as his running mate. It's the John/John ticket!
And now for that 'ten cancelled shows' meme:
Name ten cancelled shows you love(d). Extra credit for those killed before their time. Double extra credit for shows with major queer text/subtext.
1. due South (one of the queerest shows ever! Basically text.)
2. Highlander (subtext, subtext, subtext)
3. Babylon 5 (lotsa slash potential there)
4. Space: Above & Beyond (lotsa slash potential here too, though to be fair, lotsa het as well)
5. The Man from UNCLE (So. Very. Gay.)
6. The Phoenix (Don't remember there being a slashy aspect but it's been a long time)
7. Misfits of Science (definitely could find slashy subtext here)
8. Alias Smith & Jones (huge slashy subtext)
9. The Name of the Game (An odd series with three rotating stories done in a sort of repertory. Very well written and acted.)
10. The Young Rebels (Anyone for revolutionary war slash?)
I'm going to cheat and add one more of my old favorites because I couldn't bear to sacrifice any of the others to put this one on the list:
11. It Takes a Thief (Robert Wagner as a suave cat-burglar employed by the US Government. I suppose you could squint and see slashy subtext between him and Noah, but I'm not sure I want to.)
