According to Amazon.com, the 1983 MFU 'reunion' movie The Return of the Man from UNCLE is going to be released on DVD on 30th November, 2004. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00062J076/qid=1097221982/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-1702141-0419830?v=glance&s=dvd

Go pre-order. Yeah, I know the reunion movie was lame but if there's enough demand maybe it will tip the scale for DVDs of the actual series. :-)

Oy, the things we do for fandom. Sheesh.

It does have some redeeming features. Basically the few scenes where the guys are together. And David's Russian telephone repair guy is priceless. Not to mention the joy of a 50-year-old David who can still do pull-ups on his manacles. :D

Yes, but they are not sufficient to override my utter loathing of the script (and the supporting cast doesn't help). It's sad that I enjoyed their A-Team episode together more than their reunion movie.

However, it is MFU, so...it must be purchased. ::sigh::

Maybe there will be extras that will make up for the movie itself. I know it's doubtful, but hope springs eternal.

Ahhh, yes, you're right, I had overlooked the lure of extras. Wouldn't it be lovely if they actually put some on there? I'd cross my fingers for interviews w/RV and DMC, or possibly Norman Felton, but I don't want to get carried away; really, anything would be great. (Especially after the DS DVDs. Yikes.)

I've learned not to expect anything from DS DVDs, which helps me avoid disappointment. Seriously, I'm happy if they get the episode titles right.

Very true. I mean, hey, at least the DVDs are coming out, which is more than I can say for MFU at this point (and we won't talk about TS). Plus, 3rd season is even single-sided! Woo-hoo!

No kidding! I was thrilled at the single-sided discs, along with the somewhat better packaging. Not much, but a bit. One more season to go and we'll have them all! :-)

For some reason I doubt TS will ever come out on DVD, which is sad. As for MFU...I think releasing some of the movies in France and now the reunion movie here is a good sign that eventually we'll at least get some of them. My fear is they'll do what they did with the VHS tapes and only release certain episodes.

I agree -- I do think we'll at least get something. And the extras on the UK DVDs of the MFU movies were very cute. Plus, lovely packaging on those, almost as nice as with the Pros DVDs.

My fear is they'll do what they did with the VHS tapes and only release certain episodes.

Oh no -- I had never thought of that, simply assumed that they'd do them by season. Curses; now I'll be living in fear of them choosing that option!

I never thought of it either until I saw that I Spy is done as sort of a "Best Of" type thing.
