kelliem: icy lakefront sunrise (ribs)

Got an email from my brother today telling me that the barbecue place in the small town down the road where we've been going about once a month since the late 1970's is closing. They've been bought out by a car dealership. So my friend Amanda and I drove out for a final, memorial pig-out. I can't believe they're closing. They're an institution. And they're being replaced by asphalt and SUV's. This is progress?

They said the car dealership even bought their recipes-- and they didn't sound happy about it. It made me wonder if they had a loan at the bank and the car place bought it out-- and the recipes were part of the collateral on the loan or something.

*sigh* Goodbye Shorty's. We'll miss you.

No more Shorty's? Oh man, that is just awful! {{hugs}}

And what the hell is a car dealership going to do with recipies, for heaven's sake!?

I know. It's like a friend died. :-( All the waitresses were crying. Ours said that since they made the announcement on Tuesday, they've been serving 600 dinners a night. Pretty amazing.

And yes, it's really weird about the recipes. I wonder if there was some bad blood and the people who run the dealership wanted to make sure they couldn't even relocate.

That really sucks. :( So, because they sold the recipes, they (Shorty's) can't relocate and use said recipes?
