Does anyone else think there's a marked resemblance between these two "Hamlet" promotional photos?

Hah! Clearly a proper Hamlet Production needs a misty, wavey, landscape with brooding hero picture!

Also, I prefer the coloring in the Tennant one, but the Gross one has the brooding down!

He does. Plus, I must admit to being partial to the ghostly head shot. ;D

I couldn't tell so I went and googled and found another version of the photo, where it's more clear that it's long sideburns and stubble.

My head is have gret difficulty picturing Hamlet by David Tennant.. I have only seen him in 'Casanova' with Peter O'Toole, 'Harry Potter' and 'Doctor Who'. Mind you - I love the guy, but my imagination is faltering a little.

I can see it-- he has a frenetic quality that would lend itself well to Hamlet's 'madness.'

Casper David Freidrich's "Wanderer Among the Clouds" always seems to be used for books/posters of Hamlet and Frankenstein. Man standing above nature.

Aha. Good call. I had never seen that but you're right, it's obviously what they based both photos on.

Oh, surely not. I mean, one has a giant Paul Gross head in the background--they're totally different! *g*
