kelliem: Eureka: Carter & Deacon (eureka)

The more I watch Eureka the more I like it. I love the ensemble cast, the pacing is almost always spot-on, the dialogue snappy. It's just a really fun show. They even make me like characters that would normally just annoy me, like the supercilious Nathan and the gormless Fargo. This week's ep, Noche de SueƱos was a hoot! I was literally LOLing at Jo's dream sequence. (I guess that answers the question as to whether Jo is supposed to be Hispanic.) Nathan in that ruffled pirate shirt with his hair slicked back... Nathan and Fargo dueling. Priceless! And Jack being all nonchalant as he strolls about town naked. It was very interesting that Henry dreams about stealing Jack's memories... guilty conscience much, Henry? Also, Jack giving Jo ballet slippers was absolutely marvelous.

It was fun to see Colin Cunningham in something other than Stargate or DaVinci's Inquest, too. It looks like this is going to be the new place to look for some of my favorite Canadian actors-- we got David Nykl a couple of weeks ago and Colin this week. Now they just need to bring in Callum. :)

On another note, what is it with the name Jack, anyway? I mean... Jack Sparrow, Jack Harkness, Jack Carter, Jack Bauer, Jack Aubrey-- I am sure I am forgetting other fan-favorite Jacks. ETA: Jack O'Neill! How could I forget him?

I think the name underlines the "Joe Normal" he is supposed to be.

I can see how that would be so in some cases, but... Jack Sparrow and Jack Harkness are neither of them at all "Joe Normal." :-)

This was one of my favorites too :) Jack was so cool walking around nekkid and Jo was hilarious the next day!! I am so in love with this show :)

Everyone snickering at poor Jack... and the efficiency expert trying to tell him how to kiss! LOL!

You already know how much I adore this show, but I can't help but squee again. For me it's all about the characters, though the idea of a town of geeks living together makes me entirely envious.

I loved the dream sequence! And yay for finally having an answer to Jo's nationality. :)

I just had to squee, myself. I'm just so happy that instead of getting worse (as is often the case on SciFi) the second season is actually better.

LOL - that was a good episode, I agree. But speaking of long lost actors, I always wonder what will end up happening with Deborah Farentino, whom I treasure from "Earth 2" even if she's not Canadian.

Yeah, especially know that Henry's on to her. I think that's definitely going to be interesting!

It's odd to me that last season I wasn't absolutely in love with this show. I liked it but i didn't *love* it. This season I'm loving it so very much. This week's episode was just so priceless. I loved that it was Jo's dream and not Farley's and the vague look of disgust she had when she figured it out. And the ballet shoes were priceless! So sweet.

They've really hit their stride this season. Everyone is becoming a lot less two-dimensional and more 'real.' I don't know if they have new writers or if the old ones are just settling in now.

No, no, no! she wailed. I didn't know the second season was already on!! How many eps have shown? I was hoping to record them until I can catch up!

WAH!

Wow, that would be incredibly kind of that little bird! For my part, I might have some raspberry brownies that could fly their way to birds' nests. Except, you know, after I get back from vacation, probably. :)

I think "Jack" is supposed to indicate that the character is the Everyman "John" would be, but using the nickname "Jack" instead of "John" or "Jonathan" is supposed to reflect a character that's a little jauntier, a smidgen more dashing, perhaps slightly racier, mayhaps a bit naughtier, maybe a tad more rollicking....

anyway, that's my reading....
