What is it with TV scheduling lately? Nothing is on in a consistent fashion any more. Shows start randomly at any time of year (for instance, Blood Ties which is starting this Sunday and of course conflicts with The Dresden Files), and there are gaps of weeks and sometimes months in a season (I'm looking at you Bones, Ghosthunters, Heroes, House, Jericho, and Stargate: Atlantis), and they change days and times randomly (too many to count!), and sometimes a particular episode will run 3 minutes past the hour and screw up the tape (Heroes last week), or consistently starts 3 minutes early (NCIS) so if you're watching something else before it, you invariably miss the teaser.

How the hell is anyone supposed to watch TV any more, unless they have a Tivo that automatically catches everything?

Whew. Okay. Got that out of my system.

Now, on to pleasanter things.
Hugh Laurie? Is hot. Last night's ep featured one of the best onscreen kisses I have ever seen. Good ep, too. Can I just say how glad I am that A) the Tritter arc is dead and B) the cancer thing was a fakeout. Also, Dave Matthews is a pretty good actor for a singer. :)

ETA: For you David McCallum or Torchwood fans out there, here's a rec: [livejournal.com profile] jadesfire2808 has written a short, well-characterized Torchwood/Sapphire & Steel crossover. You can find it on her LJ here.

Oh, last night's House! The end made me so angry! But I did like that kiss. I steadfastedly ignored my boyfriend when he went, "Ewww! But House is so sunken and gross!"

Stupid straight boys. What do they know?

And Dave Matthews WAS good. If only because it allowed me to make the joke, "So with half a brain, the guy will just turn out to be DAVE MATTHEWS!"

I never said it was a *good* joke.

What aspect of the end made you angry? And your joke made me snicker. ;D

Oh, I think it was the serious betrayal of trust thing, and then the ending seemed to suggest that House could just walk into that resturant and his underlings would accept him with open arms. I really wanted somebody (Cuddy, maybe?) to refuse to speak to him ever again.

Ahh. I think at this point they are pretty inured to his evil ways so it's not likely that any given example of them is going to make them refuse to talk to him. I actually liked the idea that he was considering going in and even asking to join them, because I think it would be a huge step for him and that they would realize it. I think they would be shocked if he did it.

The kiss WAS hot, except for the fact that I SO don't want it to be with HER and that made me gag. *g*

I heartily agree with your A) and B)! And I was very impressed by Dave Matthew's acting, too. =>}

LOVED their duets! *sigh*

Well, yeah, that goes without saying. But I'm guessing we're not going to see a scene like that with Wilson. (I loved Wilson telling House to "Start small." That was a great scene.)

The duets were great! The best part is knowing that they were really playing.

Oh yeah! That last scene was the BEST! *g*

"The best part is knowing that they were really playing."

Yes! I so hate it when they never show the players hands, so that you know it's all fake. This was real! =>}

Tuesday at 9 PM in the UK: Life on Mars versus original CSI versus Battlestar Galactica. *sigh* I like all three, you see.

For a while Wednesdays were like that. Jericho vs. Bones vs. Ghosthunters vs. Top Chef. Argh! So frustrating. Fortunately Top Chef is over for the season, Ghosthunters seems to be MIA and so now I can tape either Jericho or Bones and watch the other.

And even on the same network, one show will start late and another early (yes, Food Network, that was aimed at YOU).

It's a totally valid rant! That drives me nuts!

The only two shows I want to watch during the week that aren't available on On Demand (Comcast) are opposite one another--"Lost" (hey, at this point, I'm too invested to stop now) and "Medium". And I can't tape one and watch the other because of the cable box. So I end up watching "Lost" and getting "Medium" via bittorrent (because I like to archive those eps anyway). But it's a huge PITA.

Thank goodness for being able to download and/or livestream video. That way I can catch some of the stuff that the idiots in scheduling made me miss.

ooh, House!! I need to remember to watch that tonight. :)

As to the TV schedule rant - OMG, yes, exactly!! Takes a freakin' degree to figure it out anymore.

FYI - Blood Ties first ep is already available on iTunes as a free download. I watched it last night and am VERY happy with it. These books were the reason I write what I do; the reason I *became* a professional writer.

I may have to watch Blood Ties and tape DF. I really need to break down and buy a DVR.

I agree! And if it makes you feel any better, TIVO sometimes misses the beginnings or endings of things, if the network doesn't start the show on time. You can tell it to start recording a few minutes early or to keep going a few extra minutes, but you have to KNOW that you'll need that in advance. It's not as smart as it thinks it is. *G*
