I could not believe what they did tonight.
Wow.
Kind of a slap in the face to the remaining designers. And hey! A chance for double humiliation for Angela and Vincent! If they were going to bring someone back, it should have been Allison, who actually had some talent. Yikes, that thing Angela made... it wasn't just the shrug, the dress itself hung weirdly and made her waif-like model look like she had a poochy belly like Laura. And stuffing her extra fabric in the purse?? Please. And if I had been Vincent, when his model was hurt and replaced with a slightly bigger girl, I'd have sewn some of Kayne's eyelet tape into that dress and put lacings up the side. It wouldn't have fixed the too-short skirt problem but it would have given it some interest and it would have fit instead of bulging weirdly. And since the new girl was taller, the skirt was shorter on her, and it wouldn't have taken much work to lengthen the skirt as the guest judge suggested.
I had a feeling Kayne would be out tonight. I was unhappy to be correct. There was some self-sabotage going on there with Kayne's fabric choice. Angela even asked in the group meeting if they had to use both colors, and was told yes, but Kayne still chose to go with almost-basic black. I think he was overreacting from the "tacky" critique. He listened to Michael, which was great, and he finally listened to Tim in not using the white eyelet stuff, but it was too late. I suspect he was just emotionally worn out. He had to be pretty tired of being called tacky and tasteless. After a while the abuse has to get hard to take. :-(
I had no quibble with Laura as the winner. She really was. Finally she got out of the box of designing for herself! The dress was gorgeous. Now let's see if she can internalize the lesson. And Michael was back on his game, once again coming through with a lovely dress-- classy and clean.
Ulli, hey, another hippie dress! Wow, how original. I noticed on the preview for next time that Tim talks to her about that one-note thing and she didn't look happy.
At least one of the judges finally realized Jeffrey's stuff looks cheap and he only has one setting: Gwen Stefani.

Jeffrey's was a cute enough outfit, but I could see it at Target in the cheesy Jr.s section. And I actually liked Kayne's dress, and hated Uli's, but they're not ready to let her go , because even if her highs are only medium high, her lows are not awful. Kayne's lows are LOW. He's so erratic.
Prediction for final 3?

And I am feeling sorry for Laura. Being pregnant is like climbing the mountain wearing an extra back-pack. I was glad to see she marshalled herself and created a nice dress.

I just hope she internalizes the lesson of the win, which is that she needs to step outside her 'box' more.
