Fantastic episode! Wow!

Kate Hewlett was awesome! Her character felt like a real person. A good mom, a good wife, and a spot-on sister. I loved the brother/sister snarky banter, and jealous!Rodney, and Sheppard taking each of them aside to try to get them to mend fences-- he does care, even if he loves to twist the knife. "Mare."

And Radek, doing a bang-up job as always. "We try not to encourage him." Hee!

Now we're all going to have to retcon Rodney's name. And the props people will have to make new degrees if they do a 'Rodney's Room' set again. They said "Rodney Ingram McKay" not "Meredith Rodney McKay." And OMG, poor Rodney. Not only a genius, but stuck with a name like "Meredith"??? How cruel his childhood must have been.

Loved the team trying to make Rodney feel better there at the last, too. Awwwww.

But that depleted ZPM is gonna cause problems, you know it is.

The brother/sister stuff was the best part of the episode, imo, but I'm rather biased there because it's something I've really been looking forward to. It was so *real*. Kate had just a couple of scenes that were a hair less than convincing, but Amanda Tapping had one herself (cringe-worthy, at that). But given that Kate jumped in, technobabbled with the best of them, and felt like she belonged in that universe all along? Awesome.

And Radek, doing a bang-up job as always. "We try not to encourage him." Hee!

Yes! "He likes to push the button." Okay, Radek definitely bottoms for his man on occasion to keep him happy.

Rodney Ingram McKay

Yes, that was a snafu somewhere. Also, the fact that Rodney spoke of his dad more affectionately ("Dad would want...") goes against the impression of a sad, horrible upbringing. Unless I've read about a million too many My Little Wodney fanon stories. *G*

Love the shared wink at the end.

Oooh, I'm hoping so! The imminent danger has been so obviously missing since they could dial home on a regular basis. This will take the show back to the harsh reality drama that worked so well in first season. I'm looking forward to it.

Well, they still have the damned Daedalus, but yeah, contact won't be nearly as easy, and that will be a huge plus in my book.

Unless I've read about a million too many My Little Wodney fanon stories.

I think maybe you have-- I don't recall any instance of My Widdle Wodney's big bad family in the actual show. :)

I can definitely see Radek keeping McKay... happy, too. ;D

I pretty much agree with everything you said.

Yet another good episode... This has just been an awesome season.

It has! After last season I was just about to give up on Atlantis, despite my love for the characters, because it was just such a mess, and they were screwing up the characters so badly after establishing them so well in first season. This season has been a very very welcome change so far.

Oh, of course. It's gonna become a bit like season one hopefully. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

yay for the depleted ZPM! It's got to cause more trouble, just like you said, and "more trouble" = more interesting stories for us to watch....
