This is so ridiculous. I'm guessing that most people in NJ knew or strongly suspected that the governor was gay (it was certainly well known in journalistic and political circles) and they elected him anyway.

I suspect he's resigning not because of his sexual orientation but because of the finance scandal that was brewing on the horizon.

I don't think it's so much the affair as being served with sexual harrassment papers while his chief fundraiser is about this far from a federal indictment. *g*

It just sets a bad precedent. Come out as gay and feel compelled to resign... *sigh* I know there's a lot more involved, but he's attempted to simplify it a bit too much, I fear. :(

On the other hand, it's probably better to admit to being gay than corrupt.

Altho, here in NJ, neither really matter. :)
