Re: Definitions

"Toast"
–noun
1. sliced bread that has been browned by dry heat.
–verb (used with object)
2. to brown, as bread or cheese, by exposure to heat.

Please to note that neither definition lists 'passing bread briefly through a broiler so it becomes vaguely warm but in no way browned' as a definition.

Re: Definitions

"Leather"
–noun
1. the skin of an animal, with the hair removed, prepared for use by tanning or a similar process designed to preserve it against decay and make it pliable or supple when dry.
2. an article made of this material.

A shoe's upper can either be made of leather, or man-made materials. There is no such thing as leather which is man made. There is pleather, or vinyl, fake leather, faux leather, or patent-leather but 'real leather' is not man made. Ever.

Re: Definitions

A pheasant is "Any of various Old World birds of the family Phasianidae, especially the ring-necked pheasant introduced in North America, characteristically having long tails and, in the males of many species, brilliantly colored plumage." In contrast, a peasant is "a member of a class of persons, as in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, who are small farmers or farm laborers of low social rank." In clothing styles "peasant" usually means "of or designating a style of clothing modeled on the folk costumes of Western cultures." thus a peasant blouse would be a folk-style blouse, while a pheasant blouse would be either a blouse made of feathers or a blouse made for a bird, neither of which is what you meant when you listed your item.
