So, on the one hand I am fairly pleased with the election results, but on the other hand, I am very disappointed that so many states (including Colorado) passed gay marriage bans, and that Coloradans also failed to approve a domestic partnership referendum. I had the insane hope that people would realize that legislating discrimination is wrong. Also not happy that Marilyn Musgrave won reelection. I wish I lived in her district so I could have voted against her. She's a nasty, narrowminded, corrupt bigot.
I need to keep remembering the good things... a Democratic House, the Senate split, and Colorado has a Democratic governor again (whew!) Also, Rick Santorum lost. Nancy Pelosi will be the new Speaker, and the voters in South Dakota, Arizona, and Missouri showed that there is still a modicum of good sense in the world. Also, the fact that locally the percentages were so close in the gay marriage/domestic partnership issues gives me some hope.
