Belated Happy New Year to my fellow pagans. :)
I decided I wasn't going to let another Halloween go by without dressing up, so I borrowed an idea that
the_star_fish did last year and went as the Fairy Gothmother. I did traditionally goth makeup-- white face, black lipstick, very dark gray eyeshadow and purple hair-mascara in my hair. The outfit consisted of a semi-sheer black ruffled top (I had a purple satin corset I wanted to wear, but it was inappropriate for work), a black laced-back dominatrix-style skirt with long jagged lace points at the bottom, a black velvet military-style Edwardian jacket, a lace and jet-beaded choker, purple and black striped tights, black mid-calf granny boots, purple netting fingerless mitts, and a purple and black tiara. And a wand that's all purple and black glitter. People seemed to really like the outfit. :-D (Kidunit took some pics for me but I have to wait for her to get a chance to upload them for me.)
Not many of our students dressed up-- I saw one girl in pink sweats and pink fairy wings, a guy in a bear costume who looked about ready to expire from the heat, and one of our grad students came as King Arthur from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (great costume!) and one of my minions came as a glam witch, so we looked good together. ;D
I was very disappointed last night to get no trick-or-treaters at all. We don't usually get many, but this is the first time we haven't gotten any at all. :-( I am blaming the cold-front that rolled in late in the afternoon and dropped the temps below freezing because I don't want to believe trick-or-treating is dead.
Oh, I did get one really nice treat yesterday! My mom bought us a new clothes dryer. I think she was just tired of us coming over and borrowing hers every time ours decided to quit working. Amazingly, her dryer is forty-three years old! and still running like trooper. My old one was only about 20. Planned obsolescence is clearly at work. The new one has a cool stationary rack that you can put inside to dry shoes and things like that on. Nice. It also has an intermittant tumble setting for when you can't get to your laundry right away.
Spam of the Day: ( what American accent do you have? )
