kelliem: icy lakefront sunrise (Default)

I felt sort of crummy most of the weekend... I think I've got a combination of allergies and a low-grade virus of some sort. Last night I loaded up on antihistamines and ibuprofen and finally got a decent night's sleep so I feel a bit better today.

Anyway, since I was feeling lethargic, I spent the weekend watching the entire Series 1 of Dr. Who eps I got from [livejournal.com profile] bluster. I have to say Christopher Eccleston just knocks me out. He's not particularly good-looking (someone I know said he looks like a dachshund and I have to admit he sort of does) but he's incredibly charismatic and an amazing actor who brings a kind of emotional depth and believablilty to the Doctor that I've never seen anyone else pull off. I think he's the best doctor to date. (And yes, I was a fan of previous incarnations, particularly 3 and 4). I also have to admire the creative team here in general. They took a classic and improved it without taking away all the cheesyness that made it what it was. Somehow they managed to make it simultaneously cheesy and fantastic. I think Rose is a great companion, and I loved how they brought in her mother, and Mickey too. Not to mention... oh yeah, you know you were waiting for it. Captain Jack. I first noticed John Barrowman in a bit part in DeLovely and his song is one of two on the DeLovely soundtrack that I listen to over and over again. So I was sort of predisposed to like him. ;)

Spoiler behind cut for those who haven't seen the whole series or heard any news/rumors )

Anyway, aided by the amazing screencaps at Stakes and Stones (and another source which shall remain nameless) I made myself three admittedly slightly spoilery icons. I hope I don't get yelled at.
