I had ONE trick-or-treater last night, an adorable little girl, maybe 4 years old, in a ladybug costume. I refuse to count the quartet of high-school aged girls in lame-ass costume attempts-- one girl was wearing a feather boa. That was the only costumish thing she had on! Another had some fangs in, but made no other attempt to look vampish.
I was so disappointed!
Was the turnout that sparse everywhere or is it just my area that's gone to community-sponsored events instead? I did notice as I was headed home from work last night that there were a TON of costumed kids on the downtown pedestrian mall taking advantage of the city-sponsored trick-or-treating there. (In fact, I am pretty sure that I saw one kid dressed as Mal from Serenity!) That was cool, but I miss seeing the kids going door to door. :-(
