Looking back over old entries, I notice that I do a lot of bitching, so today this is going to be a bitch-free zone.
When I left the house this morning to go to work, I got in my car and then sat in my driveway for a few minutes, just staring at the sky. The sunrise was amazing. The sun was a golden ball on the horizon, and everywhere I looked it seemed as though someone had taken a brush full of pale yellow light and painted the clear blue of the sky with it. It's hard to describe -- the 'brush strokes' were blurry, almost watery, a little like the way a skim of buttermilk coats the inside of a glass after it's been drunk. It made my eyes feel out of focus, but was astonishingly beautiful. I finally went ahead and left for work so I wouldn't be late, and I'm surprised I didn't have an accident on the way because my gaze kept straying to the east to see the sunrise evolving. What a beautiful place Earth is.
Whenever I'm tempted to bitch, I need to remember that things could be a whole lot worse. I have great friends, a decent job, a great kid (who isn't going to need surgery after all), a loving family (even if they do sometimes drive me nuts). I have a lot of blessings in my life.
