kelliem: icy lakefront sunrise (Default)

Had a lovely New Year's Eve with [livejournal.com profile] ardent_muses, [livejournal.com profile] bluster, Linda C., offspring [livejournal.com profile] khamryn, and our housemate, Amanda. We had cheese fondue with various veggies, breads (sourdough, roasted red-pepper boule, and pesto fougasse). Also had an amazing assortment of table cheeses-- Morbiere, Stilton, bleu, brie, smoked mozzarella, gouda, and a wonderful local artisan cheese similar to brie called ColoRouge. (Yes, for those of you who know it, we hit the Cheese Importer's Warehouse). We also had a variety of olives, and some Molinari hard-salamis, both the regular and the hot. Toasted the new year with a nice prosecco. I meant to open the sparkling Vouvray but never got around to it.

Sadly [livejournal.com profile] bluster came down with a 24-hour bug the next day, but we managed to watch a lot of Man from UNCLE anyway. Fortunately she was better by Sunday. One of the things we did over the weekend was watch the first half of H20, a pretty decent made-for-Canadian-TV miniseries starting Paul Gross. We would have watched the second half too, but the tape got mangled in the mail. :-( (Note: If any of you have a copy of this, contact me! I need to see the ending!). I noticed, and [livejournal.com profile] bluster concurred, that one of the actors in itwould make a halfway decent Illya Kuryakin if the remake of MFU ever gets off the ground. As I said in a comment on her journal: He's the right age, has the right chin and nose, and with a little help from Ms. Clairol could definitely pass as a relative. :) His name is David Boutin and he seems to be Quebecois. The few pix I have found don't really do him justice but I think you might be able to see a bit of the Illya resemblance here, here, and here.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and that 2005 proves to be happier and less stressfull for everyone.
