Just a few brief comments about things I've been watching lately.

As far as KyleXY goes, I'm still watching it, but I'd have been a lot happier if Jessie hadn't miraculously (and unexplanedly!) survived her cliffhanger fall. I know they're going for the Nurture vs. Nature thing, but for God's sake, how can someone who is supposed to be a genius be such an idiot? Every time you think she's going to wise up and buy a clue or two, they backtrack on it a scene or two later. Gah. Also? I miss Nic Lea.

Torchwood series 2 is coming strongly out of the chute, much more so than in the first series. The first ep was a bit weak but they made up for a lot by casting James Marsters. The second ep just knocked my socks off-- plot, pacing, it was all spot-on. And again, fantastic casting. Nikki Amuka-Bird, the actor who played Beth, was really quite amazing. If they keep this up I won't even find myself looking for shoes to throw at the TV this season!

So far the back half of this Stargate Atlantis season has been pretty good. And for once they managed to pull off a 'comic' episode that was actually funny! "Harmony" was everything "The Tower" should have been but wasn't. And as someone on my flist pointed out, it was a great homage to the old Hope/Crosby/Lamour movies. Also, that little Star Wars throwaway was a hoot. David gets all the notice but you know, Joe really has decent comic chops too.

Sarah Connor Chronicles: Three eps in (or is that two? Does the pilot count as one or two?) and I'm liking this. I like the casting (though Summer Glau must get a tad tired of playing undersocialized psychobitches) and I like the stories. I'll stick with it for a while.

Primeval is a British SciFi series I've recently started watching. I mainlined the first series over a week or so and have been watching the second series as it airs. The premise is somewhat Whovian, in that time anomalies are opening up linking present day England to times long, long past (or conversely the far future), and creepy-crawlies and large gnawies which don't belong here are sneaking through and causing havoc and there's a special team of geeks who run about trying to fix everything. And they're brave and stalwart and are armed with little more than their intellect (and the occasional leaf-blower). Again, good casting keeps me watching this one. I am especially impressed with with Juliet Aubrey who plays a character who is meant to be loathed and does it quite well. The CGI can be clunky, but it's not laughable for the most part. And Rex is adorable. I seem to have a thing for computer-animated lizards (thinks back to "Surface" and Nim).

As for Criminal Minds, my inner jury is still out on Rossi but he's not as one-dimensional as he first appeared and I'm interested to see where they're going with him. Last week's ep was not one of my favorites, but it did do a good job in spotlighting some of Rossi's issues.
