What a morning.
I took off work this morning so I could go pick up my car at 9:00. I overslept (well, overslept the time I had planned to get up, anyway) and was woken up about 8:00 hearing the trash guys one street over. Yikes! I had to throw on some street clothes and rush around to get the trash and recycling out so I didn't miss them.
I also needed to call Sallie Mae because I am cosigning a loan for the kidunit to go to cosmetology school, and they needed a personal reference from me, however their website gave no option for us to be able to add that information. So I called and got transferred three times, waited on hold for 10 minutes, and finally got someone who... couldn't hear me. So I had to hang up and call back. Fortunately the second time I got through to someone right away and we got that taken care of.
Verizon has been calling and leaving me messages saying I need to contact them about my account so I called them and it turned out all they wanted to do was tell me my balance and due date. Duh. Like I didn't already know that?? (And it's not until next week so it's not even DUE yet!)
Then I went to get my car and it cost even MORE than they had said, because they'd forgotten to include the tow fee. So instead of $544 it was $575. They did change the oil and fill up the one tire that was a little low, for free though. Wow. Customer service. :)
By that point I really needed coffee so I stopped at Moe's and got a bagel and coffee, and as I got to my car, the lid popped off the coffee and I spilled it all over my hands. Fortunately it wasn't hot enough to scald so I was just disgustingly sticky until I got to work and could wash my hands.
Got to work to find 1) someone left the parking lot gates up so the lot was full of squatters and all the good parking spots were taken so I had to park much further away than usual. 2) got to my office to find one faculty member waiting anxiously to ask me if he was eligible for a new computer yet, because his hard drive is going out. So before I even got got a chance to sit down and put away my things I had to check that out. (Turns out he's not eligible yet, it's a 4 year rotation and he's not up until next year.) 3) It's bloody FREEZING in the office because even though it's not even 70 outside, they have the swamp coolers going at full blast. So I had to call FacMan and ask them to come do something about that.
4) I got a note from the chair of the comprehensive review committee for one of our faculty giving me two items to 'add to his file' and realized that I had NOTHING else for him and his completed file is due to go to the department this Friday so I had to write him and his committee to nag them to get me all his CompRev materials so I can assemble his notebooks by Friday along with the two other candidates we have up for CompRev and Promotion.
*sigh*
The day has to get better now, right?
