News?

So, just because some old former politician cacks off, I'm supposed to forget about everything else going on in the world? I can tell I'm going to just have to ignore 90% of the news for the next week because it's going to be All Reagan All The Time. Aaagggghhhhh!! And what burns me is that even the liberals seem to be in 'if you can't say anything nice' mode. *grumble*

Okay, so they did also manage to tell us the important fact that Liam Neeson is 52 today. Which is nice to know but... people... NEWS. Please.

Oh, and on the up side, my email is working again. Congrats and commiseration to Bonnie and Robin for dealing with the hacker problem in such a timely manner.

I was just talking to my boss about the thought we both had on Saturday after Reagan died but before the Belmont ran, which went like this: Damn, if Smarty Jones wins, what do we lead with on Monday?

And you know news directors all over America were going "Eee! D Day! Horse race! President Dead! Pope chews Bush a new one! Eeee! There was no goddamned news when we got up this morning!"

Sad to say they all chickened out, but it makes my job easier. *g*

I'd rather hear about Smarty Jones *losing* than about Reagan, frankly. But hey, if it makes your job easier I'm all for it, because that means you have more writing time. :)

*g* I told you my MP3 player kept giving me "Bonzo Goes to Bitberg" yesterday, didn't I?

Hey! Reagan's timing could have been worse, it could have been right in the middle of the Dem convention. By the time that the Repub one rolls around, there shouldn't be too many news outlets who want to run coverage about his 'legacy.'

Good point.

You may want to pick up the RSS feed for bbcnewsworld, which is far from Reaganite. It's here

It could be worse. I work a few blocks from the White House. My commute Wednesday, Thursday and Friday is going to be sheer fucking hell because of this. Who the hell ever thought it would be intelligent to have the motorcade at the height of evening rush hour on Wednesday should be in the next hearse to go.
