SciFi has picked up a 5-year old Canadian-produced series called Odyssey 5 and will start airing it this Friday. I've seen a few eps of this recently and what I've seen I like a lot, so I'm reccing it to y'all. I guess it was originally shown on Showtime which explains why I never saw it (no premium channels!) back then. You'll see a lot of familiar faces in it, including Peter Weller (Buckaroo Banzai, RoboCop), Christopher Gorham (Jake 2.0, Ugly Betty), and Kenneth Mitchell (Jericho). It was conceived by Manny Coto who has a long history in TV, including 24, Strange World and Enterprise. Anyway, if you have a free slot in your viewing schedule, you might wanna check it out. :)

I just got this on DVD and have only watched two eps, but it's fun so far. I think maybe it was cancelled before the whole season was finished.

Yeah, there are only 19 eps, and most standard seasons are what, 22-24?

Thank you for the rec! I'll add it to my wish list :)

Yes, it looks like it was cancelled after only one season; I can't understand why, I went and checked the comments and they were of the 'best show ever' kind O_O

Yeah, it's odd. I think it may have something to do with Showtime's habit of cancelling good sci-fi shows.

Showtime's habit of cancelling good sci-fi shows. That is truly weird. Don't they want viewers, eh?

Odyssey 5

The early cancellation of Odyssey 5 remains a source of frustration amongst several folks on my LJ reading list. Back in 2003, Seah & Margie premiered an Odyssey 5 songvid (Haunted) at ViVid Con, which produced one of the most memorable VVC mottos for that year.

Haunted is a fantasatic vid - very, very highly recommended. Margie & Seah remastered it this year with DVD source, and both the original and remastered versions are available online for download, along with vidding notes.

Seah & Margie's Vids - there's not a bad one among them!:

WARNING: Haunted contains MAJOR SPOILERS for O5!! If spoilers bother you, watch the series before you watch the vid.

(And while all Margie & Seah's vids are excellent, and my favorites on any given day can vary, I always end up reccing these three first: IBS (SG1), Kryptonite (Invisible Man), and Walking on the Ground (multi-fandom & meta).

Cool, thanks! I may check out that vid after I see a few more eps.

It's on right before SGA, I think, if that helps. ;)

closure dammit!

I watched it on Showtime, but near the end of its run there must have been some sort of hiatus. I could never figure out if they ever wrapped up the story.

I was very excited to see the commercial on sci-fi.

I have a feeling they never did, since there are only 19 eps, but I could be wrong. I hope I am.
