I'm *just* old enough to remember that broadcast. I was confused because Cronkite was supposed to be on at dinner time - so why was he on instead of my cartoon?
Walter Cronkite = journalistic integrity
Although I didn't realize it at the time, one of the reasons I *didn't* pursue a career in journalism (despite having sweated blood for the degree) was the profession was steadily moving away from that level of integrity to the jumble of ratings chasers, puff pieces, slanted stories, glitzy, flashy graphics and style over substance mentality the news has become.
